The French Baccalaureate

The Equivalence of Certificates

The excellent results of the French Baccalaureate or Bac, issued after completion of Secondary school education (Grade 12) and equivalent to the Indian 10+2, reflect the quality of teaching at LFIM. Every year, our students receive a record 100%, with honours.

The French and Indian governments have signed an agreement to facilitate mutual recognition of academic qualifications. As a consequence, the Baccalaureate certificate is now equivalent to the school leaving certificates issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or other secondary, intermediate and pre-university educational establishments recognized by the Republic of India.

This enables students to advance their studies in both French and Indian educational systems. It further promotes mobility between the two countries.

With this world renowned diploma in hand, our students have access to every continent on earth in order to pursue their higher education and the opportunities are manifold. The United States, Canada, United Kingdom and France remain the countries where our children apply and study in prestigious universities and colleges. Of the 2.5 million students who study in France’s higher education system, 12% are from abroad. French campuses have an international presence with students from all over the world.

LFIM Alumni

Our former students recount their time at LFIM and how the French Baccalaureate paved their way to success.

I was a student at LFIM in Grade 12 and it was truly a fantastic year to mark the end of my school life. Became home from the very moment I stepped foot in through the door, thanks to my teachers, school mates and overall openness of the institution.

Oihan GENEVAISEMechanical Engineering - École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland

I was a student at LFIM from the 10th to the 12th grade and my taste for Science was particularly sharpened there. In particular, in the 11th grade, I prepared for the French Mathematics Olympiads that I won in the Asian Zone. This was possible thanks to the training given by my Math teacher at the time, Rémy Vaudour.

In short, LFIM was an enriching experience in many ways and marked the beginning of my scientific career.

LFIM has contributed immeasurably to my development. The professors are always responsive, and there is an authentically international atmosphere conducive to learning and excellence. Thank you!

Valentine DOANBachelor of Law (University College London) and Bachelor of Law (Hong Kong University) LLB

LFIM was really a great experience in my high school years, a family atmosphere, the teachers were listening, encouraging and willing to do anything to make us succeed.

The World

The French Baccalaureate is certainly not just for France!

Students go on to the US, UK, Canada and other countries – very often to the very best colleges and universities – with many US-bound students applying to the universities of the Ivy League. Universities globally welcome students who hold the French Baccalaureate.

They include, but are not limited to:

A Diploma Like No Other

Colleges select candidates from all kinds of backgrounds with diverse and differing profiles. They look for bilingual students and students who have studied humanities, including philosophy, history and literature. For articulate, cultivated students who know how to reason and defend their beliefs.

For this reason, Bac graduates are offered places in the best of universities and colleges, all of whom recognize the Bac for the demanding, rigorous and knowledge-rich diploma that it is. This makes the Bac an excellent passport to universities across the world.

My Studies

Not just at LFIM, students of French Schools around the world benefit from the French Baccalaureate.
