Admission Requirements

At LFIM we welcome students from all over the world, with our current student body comprising of 18 nationalities.
A global hub like Mumbai is the definition of a melting pot and our school is no different. While we welcome new families throughout the year, our main admission requirements pertain to proficiency in French and/or English, depending on the chosen grade.

Ages: 2+

  • For Kindergarten, there are no requirements for admission based on language. Since children are in their early formative years, our curriculum centers on being taught 50% in English and 50% in French by two teachers per class.

Ages: 6+

  • Admissions to Grade 3 and above require an A1 level in French, for students not priorly part of the French curriculum or who may not have studied French before.
  • Admissions to Grade 4 and above require an A2 level in French.

Ages: 11+

  • From Grade 6 and above, admissions are at the discretion of the Principal. The medium of instruction from Grade 6 is French with English as a secondary language. This makes it trying for students with no prior knowledge of the French language.

When Can I Apply?

We welcome admissions throughout the year. We are here to guide you through the admissions process, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have and to arrange for a campus visit.

I have an Indian passport. Can I apply?

Absolutely. We welcome all students, irrespective of nationality. Your passport to the world is the language you speak…and knowing both French and English makes your child a dual citizen.

What is A1 in French?

The DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française) is the exam given to test proficiency in the French language. A1, A2, B1, B2 are its levels, ranging from beginner to somewhat proficient. For more information, we invite you to contact us.
